Around Bambarra

Bambarra Beach

Sunrise over Bambarra Beach. This was taken near the Winter Solstice so the sun was rising rather far south. I'd love to be there when the sun was rising directly over the beach. Maybe on our next trip.
Bambarra Beach in the afternoon and it's still uncluttered with the footprints of others. We rarely saw anyone else on the beach.
We saw more bird tracks than footprints. Often they would dig for crabs buried in the sand.
The beach at Bambarra Boat Landing is the site of the annual Middle Caicos Expo. A regatta of locally built Caicos Sloops is the highlight. Vendors rent these thatched huts.

Pelican Cay

John Forbes's fishing boat lies off Bambarra Beach. Behind sits Pelican Cay and, beyond that, Outer Cay. Inner Cay is out of the picture to the right. Between these three little islands is the anchorage of Bambarra Landing.
Pelican Cay lies one half mile off Bambarra Beach. A sand bar stretches from beach to cay. At low tide, the water over the bar is shallow; less that knee deep in places.

This group could be called dotcom on vacation; they all have a website. From left to right are Chris and Cathy , Barry and Nicole, and Susan and Geoff.

The north "coast" of Pelican Cay. The entire island is smaller than most suburban lots. The north side is eroded by the sea revealing some of the ancient coral and sponges that built the island. The present day reef lies just off shore.
