The Blowing Hole
Near the northwest corner of the island, not far from the Crossing Place
Trail, is the Blowing Hole. Here, a tunnel undercuts the cliff and leads
to a inland pool.
I'm not sure if the name Blowing Hole refers to the pool itself or
to one of the vertical tubes in the tunnel roof. The best time to
visit is when the tide is high and the waves are big.
When we were there, the tide was low so the blowing was subdued. The
jagged
back wall of the pool would capture incoming waves and direct them skyward.
Just beyond the Blowing Hole are spectacular cliffs. I found this lone
cactus atop one of them.

The Cliffs
Beyond the Blowing Hole are more cliffs and beaches until you reach the end
of the island. This cliff, with its emormous cavelike face, may be the
most spectacular. On the roof, three chimneys let you look straight down
on the surf.

The Crossing Place Trail leads from near Blue Horizon Resort to the
Crossing Place on the western shore of the island. Along the way, you pass
the cliffs of northwestern Middle Caicos.

The Beaches
Between the cliffs, you'll find small beaches and offshore cays. Chris
stopped to play at a rocky beachfront.
Along the trail we found this well-camoflauged crab.
